Psychological Psychotherapist (CBT) Sally Schulze
It’s wonderful that you've found your way to our page for English-speaking psychological support in Warsaw. I understand what it feels like to be far from home. Expat life holds so many wonderful experiences, but it can also be an emotional rollercoaster. The longing for family and friends, the challenge of navigating a new culture, and that feeling of standing with one foot in two worlds – all of this can really take its toll. Especially when the silence settles in, homesickness can become overwhelming, creating a sense of being uprooted. You're not alone in this. The vibrant, yet challenging atmosphere of Warsaw, with its contrasts between the modern business world and its rich history, can amplify these feelings.
As an online psychologist, I understand the very particular difficulties that await you as an expat. It's often not just the obvious things like cultural differences or language barriers. It's the subtle nuances, the small misunderstandings that crop up in everyday life, and that feeling of identity loss that's so hard to grasp and put into words. Especially in Warsaw, where tradition and modernity meet, it can be difficult to find your own place. I know how draining that can be.
My goal is to show you both local resources in Warsaw that can help you, as well as to introduce you to my online counseling. This is specifically designed to support you as an expat – no matter where you are right now and what challenges you are facing. Because sometimes you just need someone who really understands your situation and can support you with advice and action. Whether it's about coping with culture shock, integrating into Polish society, or dealing with homesickness, I'm here for you.
I keep hearing the question: Sally, do you also take time for yourself? The answer is: Yes! As a speaker, expert and entrepreneur, I am passionate about women's health. But I don't burn out.
I manage to do this by taking care of myself. Here applies to me: Practise what you preach. So you will not only find me at MentalStark, in TED-Talks or while podcasting. No. You can also find me in Frankfurt cafés, by the lake or on the snowboard. In the picture here on the right, I am enjoying the sun and the fresh sea breeze. This is how I recharge my batteries and then start again at full speed.
As a licensed Psychological Psychotherapist (CBT) and certified fertility counselor (BKiD), I bring more than 3,000 hours of experience in online counseling. My approach is based on appreciation and radical acceptance – I create a safe space where you feel understood and accepted.
In our collaboration, a trusting relationship is particularly important to me. Your experiences as an expat deserve special attention and understanding, because living between two cultures brings unique challenges.

As an experienced Psychological Psychotherapist, I offer you empathetic psychological online counseling. I understand how overwhelming adapting to a new culture can be – when the language sounds foreign, the social codes are different, and sometimes you can't even explain why you feel so strange.
In my online counseling, we create a protected space where you can talk about all these feelings in your native language. Whether you feel torn between cultures, identity questions are bothering you, or homesickness is weighing you down – together we will find ways how you can not only survive in Warsaw, but lead a fulfilling life. Perhaps you feel overwhelmed by the directness of Polish culture, or you miss the familiar structures of your home – I am there to listen to you and support you.
Even if you are in a relationship crisis – perhaps even with a partner from a different cultural background – my couples counseling is a valuable support to build cultural bridges and find your way back to each other.
The 20-minute introductory meeting with me is free of charge. Check completely without obligation whether the chemistry is right and ask your open questions. You are also welcome to make appointments by e-mail. I look forward to getting to know you and finding a way together how you can not only survive in Warsaw, but really arrive.

In Warsaw, many expats experience challenges related to the job market, especially if they struggle to have their qualifications recognized or adapt to the specific requirements of the Polish labor market. Finding accommodation can also be stressful, especially in popular neighborhoods. Social isolation is another common problem, as it takes time to build a new social network. Cultural differences, such as the communication style that is often perceived as more direct, can also lead to misunderstandings and conflicts.
For the job market, it is important to be well informed about local conditions and consider adaptation qualifications if necessary. When looking for accommodation, the support of local real estate agents can be helpful. Joining expat groups, language courses or local clubs can help against social isolation. With cultural differences, it is important to be open, ask questions and consciously engage with Polish culture. Psychological counseling can help to accompany these processes and develop strategies for stress management.
In addition to my online counseling, there is Gabriel Ellis in Warsaw who offers psychological counseling. It is recommended to contact him directly to inquire about the availability of English-speaking sessions. I am available online for flexible and location-independent support. Waiting times for an appointment may vary, so it is advisable to inquire early. The costs for psychological counseling also vary, and it is important to clarify whether your health insurance covers part of the costs.
Culture shock is a normal reaction to a new environment. It helps to set realistic expectations and consciously take time to get to know the city and its culture. Visit local markets such as Hala Mirowska, explore the Old Town and try Polish cuisine in traditional restaurants such as Zapiecek. Exchanging ideas with other expats can also be very helpful. However, if the symptoms of culture shock persist or greatly affect your well-being, it is advisable to seek professional support.
Homesickness is a normal feeling, especially in the first few months. It helps to keep in regular contact with family and friends, but also to make new social contacts in Warsaw. Visit English-speaking meetups, get involved in sports clubs or participate in cultural events. Designing your apartment with personal items from home can also help you feel more comfortable. However, if homesickness gets out of hand, psychological counseling can help to process the feelings and develop coping strategies.
Language barriers can lead to frustration, misunderstandings and social isolation. It is important to actively engage with the Polish language, even if it is only basic knowledge. Use language courses, apps or tandem partners. Don't be afraid to ask for help and make mistakes. However, if language barriers lead to severe stress, psychological counseling in your native language can be very relieving. I offer you the opportunity to express yourself in your familiar language and develop strategies together to deal with the linguistic challenges.
A common point of conflict is the different communication styles. While expats often prefer direct and factual communication, local communication can be perceived as more indirect or emotional. Different ideas about punctuality and organization can also lead to misunderstandings. It is important to be aware of cultural differences and to be open to other perspectives. Try to understand the other person's motives and adapt your own communication. If conflicts arise, try to address them calmly and respectfully and, if necessary, seek the help of a mediator.
