Psychologist & Counselor

It's wonderful that you've found our page for English-speaking psychological support in Constanza. I understand what it's like to be far from home. Expat life brings so many wonderful experiences, but it can also be an emotional rollercoaster. The longing for family and friends, the challenge of navigating a new culture, and that feeling of having one foot in two worlds – all of that can really take a toll. Especially when silence falls as you stand on the shores of the Black Sea or wander through the ancient ruins, homesickness can become overwhelming and create a feeling of being uprooted. You are not alone.

As an Online Psychologist, I understand the very particular difficulties that await you as an English speaker abroad. It's often not just the obvious things like cultural differences or language barriers. It's the subtle nuances, the small misunderstandings that keep cropping up in everyday life, and that feeling of loss of identity that's so hard to grasp and put into words. I know how draining that can be, especially in a city like Constanza, where tradition and modernity meet.

My goal here is to show you both local resources in Constanza that can help you, and to introduce you to my Online Counseling. This is specifically designed to support you as an English speaker abroad – no matter where you are right now and what challenges you face. Because sometimes you just need someone who truly understands your situation and can help you with advice and support.

    I am Sally Schulze

I keep hearing the question: Sally, do you also take time for yourself? The answer is: Yes! As a speaker, expert and entrepreneur, I am passionate about women's health. But I don't burn out.

I manage to do this by taking care of myself. Here, for me, it applies: Practise what you preach. So you will not only find me at MentalStark, in TED Talks or podcasting. No. You can also find me in Frankfurt cafés, by the lake or on the snowboard. In the picture here on the right, I am enjoying the sun and the fresh sea breeze. That's how I recharge my batteries and then get going again at full speed.

My professional background

As a licensed Psychological Psychotherapist (CBT) and certified fertility counselor (BKiD), I bring more than 3,000 hours of experience in online counseling. My approach is based on appreciation and radical acceptance – I create a safe space where you feel understood and accepted.

In our collaboration, a trusting relationship is particularly important to me. Your experiences as an English speaker abroad deserve special attention and understanding, because living between two cultures brings unique challenges.

English-Speaking Psychologists in Constanza

Unfortunately, there are currently no listed English-speaking psychologists directly in Constanza. Therefore, finding psychological support in your native language can be a challenge. This is often a problem in smaller expat communities.

Online Counseling for English Speakers Abroad

As an experienced Psychological Psychotherapist, I offer you empathetic psychological online counseling. I understand how overwhelming adapting to a new culture can be – when the language sounds foreign, the social codes are different, and sometimes you can't even explain why you feel so foreign as you walk through the streets of Constanza and the Romanian culture affects you.

In my online counseling, we create a protected space where you can talk about all these feelings in your native language. Whether you feel torn between cultures, identity issues concern you, or homesickness weighs you down – together we will find ways in Constanza to not only survive, but to lead a fulfilling life.

Even if you are in a relationship crisis – perhaps even with a partner from another cultural background – my Couples Counseling is a valuable support to build cultural bridges and find your way back to each other.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) from English Speakers Abroad

What psychological challenges do English speakers often face in Constanza?

English speakers in Constanza often experience challenges related to the limited job market for expats, difficulties in finding housing, social isolation due to language barriers, and cultural differences regarding social interaction and communication. Adapting to the Romanian healthcare system can also cause stress.

How can I deal with these specific challenges?

It is helpful to actively engage in expat groups to make social contacts. Language courses and cultural awareness training can help you better understand the local culture. If you have problems with the job market, it may be useful to look for international companies or use online networking platforms. It is also important to have realistic expectations about the quality of life in Constanza and to focus on the positive aspects, such as the sea and the hospitality of the people.

How do I find psychological counseling in Constanza?

Since there are few or no English-speaking psychologists in Constanza, online counseling is a good option. On this website you will find an experienced English-speaking psychologist. Local therapists who speak English could be an alternative, but it is important to check the qualifications and specializations. Waiting times for appointments may vary, and costs may not be covered by international insurance. It is advisable to find out about the conditions in advance.

How do I deal with culture shock in Constanza?

Culture shock is a normal reaction to a new environment. It is important to take the time to explore the city and its surroundings, taste local delicacies and focus on the positive aspects of Romanian culture. Exchanging ideas with other expats and building friendships with locals can help you integrate faster and overcome the feeling of alienation.

What can I do about homesickness and isolation in Constanza?

Regular communication with family and friends at home can help maintain a sense of connection. It is also important to build your own social network in Constanza by joining local clubs, attending cultural events or volunteering. Activities by the sea, such as walks on the beach or boat trips, can also increase well-being.

How do language barriers affect my mental health and what resources are available?

Language barriers can lead to frustration, misunderstandings and social isolation. It is advisable to take a language course as soon as possible or use a language app to learn Romanian. Even if it is difficult to speak fluently immediately, learning basic phrases can help you cope with everyday life better and make contacts.

What are the biggest differences between English Speakers and Romanians and how can I deal with them?

Some common differences lie in the directness of communication, punctuality and flexibility. Romanians are often more indirect in their communication and value personal relationships. Punctuality is not always taken as seriously as in English speaking countries, and it can be common to make spontaneous changes. It is helpful to adjust to these differences, remain flexible and not be discouraged by misunderstandings. Patience and an open mind are key to successful integration.
