Psychological Psychotherapist (CBT) Sally Schulze
It's wonderful that you've found your way to our page for English-speaking psychological support in Kattowitz. I understand what it feels like to be far from home. Life as an expat holds so many wonderful experiences, but it can also be an emotional rollercoaster. The longing for family and friends, the challenge of navigating a new culture – especially in a city like Kattowitz, which is so rich in history and yet so modern – and the feeling of standing with one foot in two worlds, all of this can be quite nerve-wracking. Especially when the silence sets in, homesickness can become overwhelming and create a feeling of being uprooted. You are not alone.
As an online psychologist, I understand the very specific difficulties that await you as an expat. It's often not just the obvious things like cultural differences or language barriers. It's the subtle nuances, the small misunderstandings that repeatedly arise in everyday life, and that feeling of identity loss that is so hard to grasp and put into words. I know how draining that can be, especially when you're trying to integrate into the local community or gain a foothold in your professional life.
My goal here is to show you both local resources in Kattowitz, if available, that can help you, and to introduce you to my online counseling. This is specifically designed to support you as an expat – no matter where you are or what challenges you face. Because sometimes you just need someone who really understands your situation and can help you with advice and support.
I always hear the question: Sally, do you take time for yourself? The answer is: Yes! As a speaker, expert and entrepreneur, I am passionate about women's health. But I don't burn out.
I manage to do this by taking care of myself. Here's what applies to me: Practice what you preach. So you will find me not only at MentalStark, in TED Talks or podcasting. No. You can also find me in Frankfurt cafes, by the lake or on the snowboard. In the picture here on the right I am enjoying the sun and the fresh sea breeze. This is how I recharge my batteries and then start again at full speed.
As a licensed psychological psychotherapist (CBT) and certified fertility counselor (BKiD), I bring more than 3,000 hours of experience in online counseling. My approach is based on appreciation and radical acceptance – I create a safe space where you feel understood and accepted.
In our collaboration, a trusting relationship is particularly important to me. Your experiences as an expat deserve special attention and understanding, because life between two cultures brings unique challenges.
The search for English-speaking psychologists in Kattowitz can be difficult. It is often a challenge to find someone who not only speaks the language, but is also familiar with the special needs of expats. I research regularly to provide you with up-to-date information. Please note, however, that availability may change.
Currently, I have no information about English-speaking psychologists with their own practice in Kattowitz. However, if you have information about English-speaking psychological services in Kattowitz, I would appreciate an email so that I can add it here.
As an experienced psychological psychotherapist, I offer you empathetic psychological online counseling. I understand how overwhelming the adjustment to a new culture can be – when you feel like a stranger between the coal mines and the modern architecture of Kattowitz, the social codes are different and you sometimes can't even explain why you feel so foreign.
In my online counseling, we create a protected space where you can talk about all these feelings in your native language. Whether you feel torn between cultures, identity questions are bothering you, or homesickness is burdening you – together we will find ways how you can not only survive in Kattowitz, but lead a fulfilling life.
Even if you are in a relationship crisis – perhaps even with a partner from a different cultural background – my couples counseling is a valuable support to build cultural bridges and find your way back to each other.
The 20-minute introductory meeting with me is free of charge. Check completely without obligation whether the chemistry is right and ask your open questions. You are welcome to make appointments by e-mail. I look forward to getting to know you and finding a way together how you can not only survive in Kattowitz, but really arrive.

Many expats in Kattowitz report challenges related to the Polish job market, finding housing, and cultural differences. The initial enthusiasm for the new environment can quickly turn into frustration when encountering bureaucratic hurdles or having difficulty making social contacts. The language barrier can also lead to feelings of isolation and overwhelm.
It is important to set realistic expectations and consciously take time to adjust. Building a social network is crucial. Seek contact with other expats or English speakers in Kattowitz, attend language courses, and get involved in local clubs or groups. Thoroughly research local customs and be open to new experiences. If needed, don't hesitate to seek professional psychological counseling.
Since it can be difficult to find local English-speaking therapists, online counseling is a good alternative. You can make appointments for online counseling through this website. When choosing your therapist, pay attention to their experience with expats and intercultural issues. Also, inquire about the costs and whether your health insurance covers part of the costs. Waiting times for an appointment may vary, so it is advisable to contact them early.
Culture shock is a normal reaction to a new environment. It often manifests as feelings of confusion, frustration, homesickness, and irritability. To cope with culture shock, it is important to actively engage with Polish culture, learn the language, and set realistic goals. Seek exchange with other expats to share your experiences and find support. Accept that it takes time to adjust and be patient with yourself.
Homesickness and isolation are common companions of expat life. To counteract these feelings, it is important to take action. Make your home cozy and personal, maintain contact with family and friends back home, explore Kattowitz and the surrounding area, find hobbies, and get involved in local groups or clubs. Participating in cultural events can also help you feel more comfortable in your new environment. Remember that it is okay to be sad and allow yourself to express your feelings.
Language barriers can lead to misunderstandings, frustration, and isolation. It is important to learn the language to better integrate. Use language courses, apps, or tandem partners to improve your language skills. Don't be afraid to ask for help if you don't understand something. Even if you don't yet master the language perfectly, try to actively participate in conversations and make contacts. If the language barrier affects your mental health, you should seek professional psychological counseling.
Although Germany and Poland are neighbors, there are cultural differences that can lead to misunderstandings. Expats often value punctuality, directness, and efficiency, while locals tend to be more flexible, hospitable, and relationship-oriented. To avoid conflict, it is important to be aware of cultural differences and behave respectfully and tolerantly. Try to understand the perspective of the other person and avoid generalizing or judging. Be open to compromise and seek dialogue to clear up misunderstandings. With patience and understanding, cultural differences can become an enrichment.
